Billy Quon and his wife Teresa, opened their award-winning Sur restaurant in Carmel, at the picturesque Barnyard Shopping Village in 2016. When the opportunity to open a casual dining venue on historic Alvarado Street in Monterey came up, they jumped at the opportunity. The Billy Quon brand, with Theresa and Billy at the helm, is now in it's 37th year. The 10 restaurants previous to Sur Burger have all been fine dining, where SUBU is a casual “walk-up” style of dining. Like all of their restaurants, nothing is spared in comfortable quality surroundings and great customer service. Executive Chef Herman Hernandez has been with Billy and Teresa for many restaurants and shares his “culinary deliciousness” with great flare at Sur Burger. Enjoy a variety of scrumptious burgers (including a lavish condiment bar to create your own masterpiece), Chicken and Waffles, Panko Crusted Sand Dab Fish and Chips, Chef Herman’s own Common Ground Veggie Burger, Sashimi Tuna Sliders, and much more! Delectable appetizers like the Asian Nachos, Buffalo Cauliflower, Szechwan Green Beans, and Sashimi Wontons, are great for lighter dining and late-night snacks. SUBU also has healthy salad options like the Farmer’s Market Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad, Burrata Arugula Organic Fruit Salad, and the popular Sashimi Asian Salad. Save room for dessert! The SUBU Bacon and Waffle Sundae, already has its own following, as does the Belgium Pearl Sugar Waffle with Nutella hazelnut, vanilla soft serve, and bananas.
